I-693 Immigration Medical Exam – What to Expect
During your first appointment, we will:
Review your medical history and vaccination records to confirm you meet USCIS requirements for your age.
If any required vaccines are missing, we offer most adult vaccines in-office for an additional fee.
Alternatively, we can provide a vaccine order for a pharmacy or health department. Any fees charged by those facilities are the patient’s responsibility.
Take your vital signs and collect required blood and urine samples (based on USCIS guidelines and age requirements).
Lab Results & Follow-Up Appointment
Once your samples are collected, we will schedule your follow-up visit with the Civil Surgeon to review your lab results and complete your exam.
Lab results typically return within 5–7 business days, so follow-up appointments are usually scheduled about one week after the initial visit.
Tuberculosis (TB) Testing
If your tuberculosis blood test is positive, we will notify you promptly and refer you for a chest X-ray at an outside imaging center.
The chest X-ray fee is paid directly to the imaging facility.
Some insurance plans may cover this cost, or you may pay out of pocket at a reasonable self-pay rate.
We will submit a STAT chest X-ray order so results are typically sent to us within 24 hours or sooner.
Completion of Your I-693 Form
At your follow-up visit, if all lab results are normal and all vaccine requirements are met:
You will sign your I-693 form
We will place the completed form in a sealed USCIS-required envelope
You will also receive copies of your I-693 and lab results for your personal records
